What to Expect.

Sketchbook is where Pattaya goes when it wants to listen rather than dance. The owners — a group of Thai session musicians — built the room around the stage, not the bar, so the acoustics are unusually clean for a venue of its size, and the booking calendar leans toward original Thai indie acts, blues trios, and occasional international touring musicians on Southeast Asia routings. The crowd is older, the conversation is quieter, and the band is the point.

The Friday and Saturday name-night bookings sell out — reserve a week ahead during high season. The wine list is unusually deep for a Pattaya venue, with a small but well-chosen selection of Italian and Chilean reds.
